Lectionary Passages: Ezekiel 37:1-14, Romans 8:6-11, John 11:1-45 & Psalm 130
Mark Bassett speaks on Jesus’ anger at death. Death is the enemy and the result of sin. At Lazarus’ tomb he speaks two words into the emotional anguish of those mourning Lazarus: resurrection and life. Jesus calls Lazarus out of his tomb and raises him up. Likewise, he calls us all out of the tombs of our souls and raises us up calling each of us by name. He will call us out of our tombs again at the end of time because he is the resurrection and life and will triumph over death and sin.
