John 20:1-18
Mark Bassett contemplates the Anastatis, the rebirth of Christ. As Mary comes to the tomb, she wants to be near Jesus. She doesn’t want to leave even when she finds Jesus’ body is missing. Peter and John are hesitant compared to Mary. They end up leaving the tomb theorizing about what they’ve seen and what has happened. Not Mary, she stays wanting her Lord. He finds here and calls her by name: MARY. He asks her why she is crying and who is she looking for? Do you believe Christ knows your name? He calls us all even in our darkest moments. He wants us to know that he knows us.
